Mike Wittmer:
Great stuff, Chris! If only we could clone John Thrush.

I really enjoyed reading the JT interview. The questions were answered with thoughtful and honest responses which appear to be Mr. Thrush's strong suite. I have found him to be one of the most kind and helpful coaches that I've had the pleasure of meeting. I especially liked his description of the moment when one becomes a weightlifter. To quote " for some of them for some reason, a change occurs. One day they go from being athletes who do weightlifting, to being weightlifters." This quote is my reason for writing. I do not think that our national problems with weightlifting have to do with money, but have instead to do with finding weightlifters. Once one is transformed to being a weightlifter a way will be found to do the training necessary, to make the big meets and to commit to being champion.

Chris,
Thank you for the excellent interview of Coach John Thrush. He said he felt he had to live a little bit better because he was working with kids. From reading your interview I believe he has accomplished it very well. He is obviously not just a great coach, but also a great man by even his own standards. Great coach, great man how often they seem to go hand in hand.
Don

I only hope someday I'll be as good a coach as John. :)
