CONGRATULATIONS SHANE HAMMAN & TEAM USA!
Shane won the snatch with 180kgs, ten kilograms over fellow Team USA member Casey Burgener who has just recently moved into the superheavyweight division and continues to rapidly develop in the class. While Casey tied his personal record in the snatch and exceeded his personal record clean and jerk and total by five kilograms, Shane added one more kilogram to his 10 kilogram lead in the snatch after successfully clean and jerking 216kg compared to Casey's 215kgs. Shane thus secured the championship for the USA despite taking a layoff to consider retirement after the 2004 Olympic Games.
