Hosting a Meet Questions
« on: Jun 06, 2005, 10:14 AM »
This is for those who have posted a meet before, or know the how's about it. I am a strength and conditioning coach at U. of Iowa and would like to host a meet next december. One of the teams I coach is track and field and would like to use the meet for the end of the off-season for the throwers to compete in.

Some of the questions I have are...

1. Do you have to have USAW Club Coach or above to host a meet? (I have Sports Performance Coach.

2. Do I have to have a present club established to host a meet?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Damon;

Awesome that you want to run a meet at the U of Iowa.  Your state director is Greg Kustra 1819 N. Highland Drive Carroll, IA
 712/792-2412
ialifter@yahoo.com

Contact him and he can help you.  You do not have to be a certified coach to run a meet.  You also do not have to be a registered club.  I will send this out to other college track coaches when you get it sanctioned.  I think you can draw in some others for it.  My daughter would probably come, but she's planning on the American Open in December.  I think it's a great idea and I wish more colleges would do the same!!
