I thought I would come give a few follow up thoughts about Lance now that he has confessed. I again reiterate that the real crime in this situation was the government robbing the American people to fund a cycling team, particularly related to the absurdly unnecessary and bankrupt postal "service." The drug war remains retarded and counterproductive in every way, in sport and out. Further the entire pre-eminenance of sport in the American conscience is primarily a result of the authoritarian policies of the U.S. Empire, the public indoctrination system enforced by coercion and funded by robbery and the licensed, regulated and taxed press [propaganda] on the propaganda box- soon to be watching you back. Sports are the Empire's circuses to distract the people from their slavery and the cultural decline and moral decline we see is the inevitable result of authoritarianism robbing the free will of the people and thus condemning them to a life of either hypocrisy or amorality. Meanwhile we have uncountable undeclared wars the Empire is fighting and robbing us all to fund, while calling this robbery under threat of murder "protection." Meanwhile the drone emperor and the oligarchs that call themselves "congress" claim they can indefinitely imprison Americans without trial and even murder Americans and even American children in cold blood with no due process at all. The oligarchy claims it can tell you what you can buy, what you can't buy and what you MUST buy, or it will rob you some more anyway, under threat of death. Meanwhile the drone emperor issues dictatorial "laws", if the other oligarchs won't obey him fast enough, not that this is any different from any other "president" in American history. They have ALL been tyrants, though Jefferson said nice things. So, no, I don't care about Lance Armstrong using drugs the government has indoctrinated the slaves into thinking must be suppressed via violence. I care about the slavery itself.

But, no, ancaps don't approve of fraud. It is one of the three base crimes, along with aggression and coercion. HOWEVER, we view the government's assistance in the sport monopolies as aggression and I tend to view the drug war in sport as a side effect of the war on drugs by the Empire and its intrusions into sport and media. In other words, one could argue its self-defense for Lance to dope and lie about it since the government is using violence to suppress the use and I do make this argument. I suspect Lance didn't have such a view and pretty much lacks an ethical code entirely, is a typical product of the welfare-warfare state in other words, the typical result of authoritarianism which forbids the application of individual's moral code, i.e., forcing Catholics to pay for other's birth control or abortions or me to pay for Hitlercare or medicare or medicaid or war, etc to infinity. Authoritarianism negates free will and therefore destroys morality. Government is a rob or be robbed, via government, environment, what the brainwashed think anarchy, no rulers, means.

The more I look at the whole drug testing system the more I find it to be flawed beyone repair.  Those willing to subject themselves to it seem to hold themselves back while there are those working around it.  Lance Armstrong is the perfect example, he played the game and for all purposes won.  He won all these races made millions, had his time in the sun.  Now people are overlooking it simply because he said sorry.  If he was sorry he would give back all his millions he stole from others with his lies.
 
Interesting, I was wondering how you viewed the lying.  I was curious because he was lieing and cheating but at the same time he wasnt physically robbing people, he was using resources available to him to succeed.  He just wasn't forth coming about it.  Your point on the postal service did bring to mind something I heard about Lance.  Where they USPS was sueing him because they sponsored him and now he came out and said he was lieing they wanted the money back.  LOL, why is our government run institution sponsoring athletes as you said while it is going bankrupt?

Fraud is a crime, but not if its in response to aggression and-or coercion. For instance, lying to the government on the income tax forms, which clearly violates the 5th amendment protection against self-incrimination, is self-defense. Government initiated the violence in sport by giving anti-trust exemptions, non-profit status, judicial protection for NFL, NCAA, NBA and USOC monopolies, etc. If a truly private sporting agency wanted to do drug testing, that would be moral and cheating-lying to defeat it would be fraud. But the Olympics are a state-enforced monopoly.

Lance is still a champion, hands down.  Wasn't there some stat saying if they gave his medal to the closest finisher who hasn't tested positive, it would have been 30th place or something?  It was an even playing field and he won, plain and simple.


This is like the drug war in the States and abroad.  It is failing, just like their testing.
