I think the way is open an space for the real amateur sport, out of the  circus and the fashion of the actual organizations, the governments, and interests of enterprises.
A space probably less powerfull, but clean.
Economical help must not be a bussine.
Sportman must not be a useless person out of the sport.
I lost that oportunity in Uruguay, because I used all my time fighting against corruption when I could dedicate it to take care of the guys and myself and develope that free amateur space.

As a total beginner, your opinions are understandable. I once shared them. But drug testing has been a complete failure. It is totally corrupt and ineffective and will always be so. Stick around the sport and see for yourself.
Even if that is the case, giving up doesn't help it at all.

Is cheating despicable yes it is.  But like you said there are those who are only in it for the money.
... you know I actually had Muay Thai kick boxers in mind when I wrote this. Just trying to make a living. They were pushed into the ring as boys before they were old enough to know what's what, and many just stuck with it as they got older because it was a profession. Some of them, like Buakaw Por Mpramuk or Yodsenklai Fairtex made it world famous. They just wanted money, though.

Yet weightlifting seems different. In Muay Thai, you get paid even if you lose the fight. In Weightlifting, only if you win. And there are so few comps to actually win, that using drugs to get to the top of them is especially devious...

ADDITION:  I will say that I am hoping for the day when someone will win and without a doubt is clean under the strictest testing circumstances.  Some have given me hope but in the end for whatever reason have failed or disappointed.
I hope the same thing.

Do you think Hossein from Iran used drugs? Someone on the Iranian team actually accused him of it, but nothing came of it.

Drug testing is an unnecessary evil. Voluntary self-declaration enforced by an honor system will be far more effective.
