Yes, I am saying there was probably one specific lift that injured it, and probably not a squat though its possible I suppose particularly if you bounced really hard and out of control at the bottom. But, a fissure is an acute injury, no a chronic one like over-use inflammation...

I agree, generally the cause of these injuries are umbalanced snatches or cleans.

It would make sense why it is only on the right knee instead of the left. The doctor never called me back today I wanted to ask if it was overuse why it was just on my right leg not both. Is it possible that it could have been from my days of wrestling when I used to always shoot down on that knee? I quess the question is, could it have been there and just over time of lifting heavy that it got aggrivated? Or do you think it was an injury that occurred once it started bothering me?

When you jerk, which leg goes forward?

It used to be my right, a few months ago I switched to left. Pain and because I have more balance with my left forward.

I still haven't heard from the doc. I tried calling Monday and Wednesday. Wednesday he was in surgery so he might have forgotten about me or I am just driving him nuts with so many questions, lol. Anyways, I talked to the trainer and bounced some questions of him. I asked him if I could have had the fissure for a while with no pain (as a wear or something from wrestling), my knee has been sounding like rice krispies since grad school but with no pain. I also asked him if my pain could be a result of tracking issues (chondromalasia?) and he said it is possible. He recommended I get a neoprene knee sleeve with a knee hole and try that out to see if it helps. He said it may help with the bursitis and may help my knee track more correctly. I will include info about the sleeve in my workout log to keep you updated.

I don't think a knee sleeve will help if there is really a fissure. Something like that, if it really exists, needs to be repaired. I think from the sound of it it might be possible to have it "fused" by laser, if it really exists. You need to see an orthopedic surgeon, I think.

I am thinking this my be my last post. I talked to the doctor today finally. I basically laid it out that I am still planning on doing some competing for a few more years so it will involve heavy lifting still and do we need to do anything different with my knee. He basically said short of programming changes on my end he wouldn't do anything. He said it is not bad to the case were surgery is warrented and he said he does not think the lifting will make it worse. He basically said it will depend on how much pain I want to tolerate as heavy lifting will make it sore so it will come down to programming and me cutting it back when it gets sore.
