I cant´t speak about USA. But the posts remember me the position of some dirigents of Uruguay in the past years.
1) be against every free alternative of training
2) assume that every good result is based in drugs.
Those are two excelents tips to destroy a sport in one country.

Albert, do not take what was said as a cut on you or anyone else.  This is the current thought.  I train as hard as I can to do the best despite these odds as well.  Never discount the human will, freaks of nature, or acts of God.  But at the same time when discussing these 3 criteria we are not talking the norms we are talking special cases.  I am the first person willing to give any lifter who is achieving good numbers the benefit of the doubt on doping unless their actions prove the contrary.  I would not sell yourself short, there was a great lifter around the time of Paul Anderson who had club feet, his name is escaping me at the moment perhaps someone else on here and fill in the blank.

no way andy- i cant be cut into. But to add to your thought i believe out of the many variables that make up this hole wer're in its instant gratification that contributes the most. Lets raise the records and stop fooling ourselves. Cant lifters tell when theyre being placed in a bubble? If they could american records should be higher.

My argument is that ALL the failures of the USAW stem from the fact that it is operating outside the market and is thus not subject to the wishes of the consumers. What is needed is COMPETITION among truly private entities operating for PROFIT. A for profit weightlifting "federation" would of course pay their lifters to perform. Under these conditions of pure individualism, the belief of the majority in the organization is completely irrelevant. Money talks. Lifters WILL perform to earn the money, period. Athletes, money and results will flow to the federation that pays the best and treats its athletes and members the best. If the organization mistreats its best lifters, they will simply go to another organization. The USAW is THE obstacle to success of weightlifting in America, followed 2nd by the US government and its destruction of freedom and therefore prosperity.

Chris, in that model I supose each lifter decides himself his own training.
