To anyone with a response: what makes usaw corrupt? is there a general consensus that Americans will be physically unable to lift big numbers by international standards anytime soon? is the olympic training center playing any part of our demise? to whom can i send a letter to show my concern about our declining presence on the world stage? how can being concerned with the politics in the sport of weightlifting help me lift more weight?

"what makes usaw corrupt?"
Its a government created monopoly.
"is there a general consensus that Americans will be physically unable to lift big numbers by international standards anytime soon?"
Yes. No one believes anyone in the USAW can win medals in the Olympics ever again, nor even equal the best results of America in the past. This was why the American records were lowered. They [the oligarchy/majority] believe it is impossible to lift more than the current fake records without drugs. They believe it is impossible to get any better. They hope they won't keep getting worse, but they are and will.

I will have to second what Chris said. It is believed that to lift the numbers to win competitions to gain slots and to actually be competitive in the Olympics a lifter has to be doping. Much of the rest of the world still is, so to keep up we would have to. Just look at all the cases of doping busts that occur quite frequently. Then the ease which with organizations buy back into competition after banned.
Also look at how hard nosed USAW is against any sort of doping. I take the example of Vardanian (sp?) when he was busted for weed. Not really a performance enhancer but he was stuck with strick fines and the USAW was like well, your on your own. When we was one of our best lifters. Now I think he is lifting else where in the world.
Couple that with weightlifting is not a popular sport in the US. People view it as a means to training because the money is in baseball, basketball, football all sports that require much power. A powerful individual who would excel in lifting would also excel in these it they were any athlete and could learn the game. So naturally they will be pulled to the fame a fortune.

but i dont understand, are you insisting no matter how much "I" train i will never achieve my goals in terms of weight lifted? to me this makes absolutely no sense. to train is to believe . if you dont achieve your goals, it is because you dont "truly" believe.

im 29 , double clubfooted, working full time and going to school, and i couldnt even afford doping . If anyone has a dim chance of achieving their lifting goals its me. But i believe and have no doubt i have yet to reach my decided peak.#@$% organizations, %$#@ politics , *%$#@ rankings , and @#$% these societal stigmas- i will be the one who decides what weight is on the bar.

The USAW believes it is impossible to lift more than what they lowered the American records to without using drugs. I see some talk now and then about hopefully earning Olympic slots in the future in the men but its talk with no hope. The women will soon be in the same situation. But, again, with total failure, with the USAW getting no slots, their monopoly on choosing Olympic slots and the word Olympic becomes meaningless and worthless. Thus it should spark competition.
