How too get less flexable?
« on: Aug 28, 2011, 06:49 PM »
I'm hypermobile, and haven't stretched in a year, but whenever i snatch or clean i go too low, i cant help it, my butt sometimes touches the floor, i workout about 6 days aweek, snatches, cleans, front squats, back squats, lunges, leg extentions, but still too flexable, makes it harder for me too get up from the weight. Are there any other exercises that will help me not go so low in the squat?

Hypertrophy may be helpful. Perhaps using a more narrow stance when you catch the weight, similar to Rybakou.

Instead of making an advantage out to be a disadvantage, get stronger so that you can better use that advantage.  :;wp)

Yeah, I don't think it would be easy, but you probably don't have much choice.

I agree with this. OP, I suggest you do super deep front squats with a pause at the bottom. What you have is a gift, not a handicap. The deeper you catch the weight, the less explosive you actually have to be. With a strong front squat, you can stand up with heavy weights when doing cleans and snatches.

Hi ironbaby (megan?), there seems to be a imbalance between your back and abdominal strength in the videos I see, if you feel your back is strong , work on your abs. Learn to raise the hips and shoulders at the same rate when you rise from the bottom snatch position, good luck
