I think that many of the comparison are not rigourous. The biomechanical of the squat have a big variability, so in many cases are different exercises.
In other order, for safety in squat the most significant is put the bar in a lower position (like powerlifters), but this is a sin for some weighlifitng coaches, and squats turns a neck exercise

This is a good point. I have seen people do very good full squats with a low bar position. However for someone like me who has a short torso and a strong back, the low bar position causes me to lean forward very far. I actually just got a safety squat bar and the mechanics of my squat are much better. Perhaps shoulder structure plays a role as well. I find the low bar position stressful to maintain, but I have seen others place it there naturally and find it more comfortable. The bottom line is that the squat needs to work the thighs primarily. If the back is doing much of the work, then it will slow recovery.
