Here is a documentary of a Chinese circus school and their training. Turning athletes into slaves. Child athletes, none the less.

It's how champions are made...
What else is there to say? It's either people have the work ethic to become champions, or they are FORCED to have the work ethic to become champions.
I believe a training center with motivational and charismatic coaches would beat any "bootcamps" there is, provided that the voluntary athletes have the right attitude to become the best they can be.
If not, then someone has to force these athletes to do so...

any "force" a government inflicts upon its citizens for athletic reasons or whatever else can only yeild a fleeting glory that only serves the desires of a select few. to take pride in having a seemingly never ending "supply" of athletes is just another symptom of fanatical nationalism, the individual becomes insignificant. although they have produced fantastic lifters, i feel that the chinese have created a hostile enviroment in the weightlifting world with their "take over" approach and have probaly forgotten that potential and ability isnt only determined by numbers.

This is a great example of how every fascist-socialist has their own fantasy of the perfect fascist-socialist system. One person's perfect fascist-socialist society is perfect hell for another, but every fascist-socialist expects their system will function the way they wish. Since human values are subjectively chosen, no centralized-authoritarian system can satisfy human beings individual nature. All fascist-socialist systems require violence to maintain, violence against those who have committed no violence; and all produce unintended consequences which negate the chosen goal in the long run. For instance, China will eventually have to scale back its looting and funding of weightlifting and other sports as the global depression deepens and its fiat currency collapses. Its unsustainable, as it was in the eastern "communist" block, as was the pyramid building in ancient Egypt, the moon program for the us, etc. Heck, it would obviuosly be far better for the Chinese people overall to force these kids to study Austrian economics than to lift weights so if I was an evil fascist-socialist, I would obviously want to force them to do that....
