This was 165 pounds. I did another one afterwards with the same weight but with much smoother execution. I then proceeded to try 175. Successful (but tough) clean, can't split jerk.

For me, the execution is correct. The steps down and unstability is because you aren´t using shoes, as was said.
Becsarfull with down the bar. Is better  to down it to the chest, cushioning with the knees, to avoid lumbar injuries.
