I agree with you Chris, my post is if I had to keep these rules in place and have a set clothing rule.  The best would be as you said to take out the pointless rules the hinder the lifting instead of help it really (clothing, press out, certain drugs etc.)  Some of these things just don't make any sense as to why they are rules.

She isn't asking for female judges.  She just needs a woman to be administering weigh ins which I agree should and probably is already standard protocol.

Sure Andy, my post was more a response to your thoughts than a debate. IF they had simply allowed lifters to wear either a singlet or a unitard, I would have given them a 9 out of 10. After all, its completely irrational to expect bureaucrats to voluntarily give up power, in this case the power to regulate, inspect, certify, and ban other's people attire (and thus them). Bureaucrats really are hilarious to me, though I despise their philosophy and ignorance. The pure silliness of some nobodies over in Europe ordering people to wear a particular costume all around the world...

What I would like to see in regards to clothing is allow lifters to put sponsorships on thier clothes/singlets.  I don't care if they look like a NASCAR out there if it brings money and sponsorship to the sport/athletes I am all for it.

I am for total anarchy in the clothes weightlifters are "allowed" to wear. Get the rulebook out of the clothing regulation business. Its as necessary as regulating lifter's hair length. While they are at it, at least 90% of the rulebook could be abolished starting with the press-out nonsense. Sure, let lifters wear sponsor labels, of any size and type, let them wear skirts, nun outfits, moslem outfits, arab attire, whatever. It would make the sport more entertaining, not less. Freedom works. I have to demote the ranking of their decision now from 7 to 5 and I may demote it further upon more reflection. The idiots only allowed unitards for women, not for men- it looks from the above article. So now they have turned backlash from a stupid clothing regulation into gender discrimination.

If this is indeed only for women = fail.  I would agree it does drop my opinion considerably.  Sometimes I wonder if things are so micromanaged in rules and regulations purely in an attempt (because it fails almost all of the time) to give someone something to do or feel important.  Its got to be the latter because with added regulation it only falls on the same few individuals to enforce them and makes thier job harder.

I saw some authoritarian idiot on another forum blabbing away about how the IWF letting this woman lift in the clothes she desires was a sellout to "misogyny" as if her obeying his and other people's dictates, who happen to be men, is somehow pure and noble "gender equality." Amusingly enough, I have seen this same retard arguing on facebook about how America was meant to be the land of the free. I'd have commented but I am banned. lol
