Update from Malaysia, Day 3-Afternoon
« on: Jun 27, 2011, 08:16 PM »
Folks,
Here is my account of today's 2nd training session. We now have almost all the lifters and things are running pretty smoothly. Still a few hurdles to jump through and certainly the technical conference will be one of them.

The training is still in the makeshift training facility, which means hot and sweaty and busy.

I watched our lifters pound out some lifts and watched Zygmunt stress technique quite a bit for some.
I then watched Ian Wilson rip off a nice 160 clean and jerk and then witnessed a nice 155 from Nackoul(ask Mike about his bet he lost to a broken down Master Lifter today and his attempt to double down. I hope he wins!).

Some of the girls hit some light lifts and then squatted decently up to the 130+ish range.

One thing to note that TIM SWORDS ALWAYS MENTIONS WHEN IN OTHER COUNTRIES, IS THE TRAINING METHODS OF OTHER LIFTERS FROM VARIOUS PARTS OF THE WORLD.

Sorry Tim, couldn't help myself back there on the caps:) Most of the other countries I watched training were very diligent about changing directions under the bar no matter what the discpline. Most were doing powers. For the squats today, I mostly saw BSQ's. A few reps at a decent weight it appeared for a few sets to finish off the workout. One guy lifted in sandals. I have pics of that, as he hit some pretty decent weights and looked like a huge 105 or a budding 105+.

Other than that, the group looks like they are coming together with lifting starting in a few days.

Again, the food is real good and plentiful in the designated all inclusive area.
