I think periodization is nonsense, aside from the general need to taper-peak for contests, which really is not periodization by itself.

I'd like to read more of your thoughts in the book you were writing Chris. Is it ready?

Yes and no. The content is all done. Unfortunately, I am having some software problems that have frustrated me into procrastination. I still need to do some minor stuff like adjusting the table of contents, designing the cover, and a few other details. But, its aimed at raw beginners, whether its an athlete or a coach, and does not discuss periodization. The companion dvd still needs a little work as well in video editing and designing a menu, but I could probably do that in two days.

LOL. That settles it. Thanks.

I think that each body has its own periods, times, and this is generally not previsible. Coaches of great and numerous teams made a standar periodization in function of callendars of competitions, and his own administration. But thas is not necesarilly the optimal for the individual athletes.
I remember what ridiculous was many lifters, with the polish plain, the sovietic plain, in a little paper, dreaming with fantastic progress if they follow it step by step, journey by journey.

No plain, system or periodization replaces a self knowledge.

Would you please elaborate?

Periodization is a socialistic concept which ignores the individual and idolizes the "expert" who insanely believes they can plan every detail of another person's life. Of course, inevitably when perodization fails, the excuse is that the planner simply needs "more control" over the life of the planned....
