I hear you Jesster. The cops certainly weren't always this bad. Things are getting worse very quickly from my view, with their cameras on our roads, their infrared vision devices, steadily expanding ability to perform searches without warrants, electric torture devices, and on and on. I mean, this is the wealthiest country in the world and we have the highest prison population in the world. This fact alone should scream out tyranny to everyone in the country. It warms my heart to see more people waking up to our growing police state. Its way past time to end this absurd "drug war" that has militarized our socialist police force and free ALL prisoners being held for victimless crimes immediately, in mass. In fact, everyone of these unlawfully imprisoned victims of the "drug war" are properly entitled to restitution for their imprisonment. Ideally, I would say the government should give them each an acre of land per year they were imprisoned out West, land which the government is currently holding off the market via physical force.
I don't know the exact cause of this is, but it feels like the goal of the rich is to make the presence felt during tough times. So, if someone might think of attending a rally for any cause, they would remember how they would be up against an irrational police force, and not risk going. I think they may be trying to intimidate citizens early, so any rebellion is minimized. It is just restrictions placed on a free society. Twenty years ago I used to see about one cop per day. Now, I see three cops per every 10 minutes on the road, and a police helicopter which I see every other day. I also happen to live in a low crime area. I find it funny how our society talks about the population being unfit, yet the cities are shutting down parks at dusk in some areas. I used to play tennis up until 11 p.m. and later. Now, I would have to get to the courts by 7 p.m. just to get enough time, cuz the lights are out at 9 p.m. Just lame.

Well, I think the cause is the welfare-warfare state, which is inherently authoritarian in its quest to create the "perfect society", by force. Ron Paul says it better than I ever could:

Sounds like if Ron Paul were elected some cops would be searching for a new job. Majority of modern day republicans like low taxes and lots of police. Money doesn't make itself, so the police need to pay for themselves by personally taxing random citizens through profiling.

Anyway, I saw a Trooper getting burned by a crotch rocket Friday night. Warmed my heart. What was even more funny was that the Sheriff's department had a speed trap 1.5 miles up the road, and the motorcycle and Trooper must have went through it as 130+ mph.

To some extent, yes, since he would eliminate, in theory, federal subsidization and to as large extent as he could achieve regulation of state police. But, otherwise such decisions would be left up to the states, according to Paul's views, or at least according to his constitutional views.

Let the cops find real jobs, producing something people are willing to buy without guns to their heads.
