Why the "head kick" in the jerk??

I observed that many lifters, (generally much better in snatch) uses move the head in front in the end of the jerk. Normally, if successfully, it follows some unstabiltiy and a litlle run over the front leg.Counterexemple: Alexeev lifted in vertical, and his popular jerk is very stable. And a difference with the snatch is large.
So, the question: why the coaches estimulate that technique, if apparently is not convenient?

Perhaps this should be moved to the weightlifting section to get more replies. I only found it on accident. I have never been taught to do this as you said it is inefficient technique nor do I teach it. Although, I am guilty of it at times. I think in my experience of it is when I jerk I pull my head back to try to allow for a straight bar path and the counter movement in trying to bring it back to start position causes me to push it forward.
