2010 USA YEAR-END RANKINGS
«

***These ranking lists have not been created or authorized by the United States Weightlifting Federation, dba USA Weightlifting. These lists were created independently by and all publishing rights belong to StrengthPlus Magazine.***
A note of interest:
-The men's open competitor list (all ages) included 2703 names.
-The women's open competitor list (all ages) included 1106 names.
-A few people competed in more than one weight class, and I did not correct for this.
*As of November 20, 2010, there were 6,732 registered members of USAW. It appears that more than half of them were active athletes during the 2010 calendar year.*

Please note that these ranking lists vary considerably from the auto-generated ranking lists created through hangastar. While the "Open" age groups are fairly similar to hangastar's, the lists for Schoolage (94+ and 69+ weight classes in particular), Juniors, and Masters are virtually unrecognizable when compared to their hangastar counterparts.
Please forward on as you see fit.
My methods are outlined below.

Some notes on list development:
1) Schoolage/U17 age groups/weight classes correspond to IWF Youth divisions, i.e., U17 only, 50-94+ kg. I did not split this out by U13, U15, etc. for two reasons, the first being the sheer man hours it would take, the second being that USAW's mission statement is to win medals internationally. Medals are available for only U17, so that's what I stuck with.
2) Schoolage totals are also included in Junior and Open rankings. Junior and Master totals are also included in the Open rankings.
3) Masters age groups have been split up by 5-year age groups in accordance with Masters Worlds/Pan Ams age division policies.
4) I did NOT follow USAW result sheets for weight class determinations. Instead I sorted by bodyweight and manually inserted weight class breaks. I did this because several mistakes were found to have been made by meet directors concerning bodyweight classes (for example, a 60.1 kg lifter was auto-generated to be ranked in the 56 kg weight class.)
5) I did NOT follow USAW result sheets for age group determinations. Instead I sorted by birth year and manually inserted age group breaks. I did this because several mistakes were found to have been made by meet directors concerning age groups (for example, a 12 year old was entered by the meet director in the "open" division and his total, therefore, did not register in Hangastar's system as a schoolage lifter.)
6) Only the single best total for a lifter is included in each specified weight class in which he competed during the calendar year for 2010. Several instances of multiple entries per weightclass per lifter occured through hangastar's autogeneration of ranking lists, so a manual search for duplicate totals per weight class (for example, someone was ranked twice within the 85 kg weight class) was also necessary.
7) I also did a manual search for feminine/masculine-sounding names, as a few instances were also discovered of females being ranked as a male lifter and vice-versa through hangastar's autogeneration of the ranking lists.
