Wow! That was thrilling.
Can someone explain to me: Naim snatched 145 on his second lift, then Leonidas did 146.5 on his third lift to set the new world record. Even before Naim's third lift, the announcers were talking like Naim had already won the gold in the snatch, even though Leonidas had bested him by 1.5. How is that possible?
I suppose it didn't matter because Naim goes on to snatch 147.5.
Ironmind sells the training hall video for these championships. Two days before he lifted, you can see Naim training. He actually misses 145kg twice but gets it on his third attempt. He goes on to front squat 190 for a double. The video also features Mutlu and Kakhiashvilis.
