Very very impressive, but I agree that it's getting a bit boring seeing the gym lifts. I want to see this guy in competition!!!

Sorry dudes, but y'all are a bunch of losers.

Not a flame, just returning as you are giving.

This is exactly the kind of monkey scat that discourages

great athletes from doing as well as they could...

Just to get as picky as seems your style --

that was not a 4m platform, and so you have no evidence

that he would have stepped off a competition platform.

Slow down there hard charger.  I can’t believe I actually have to write this…

3 REDS! He stepped off the platform.  JK,

Of course it is not a regulation platform. It is called a joke, hence the JK (just kidding)

impressive but I would like to see him break the record in a meet and get in the books.  That would be cool to see Americans start to do something in the sport.

Compliments and a very truthful statement

If he wants to lift for the joy of lifting that is cool with me but I thought we wanted to compete and set records and win comps?

Mere speculation, do I know him, do I talk to him?  No, so I speculate on why the vids and no competitions.  Is there truth in what I say?  Yes a lot.  Many have wondered why someone who is breaking records and lifting probably the most any American has clean in a long time does not compete.  So it is a logical question to pose.  Maybe just maybe someone knows him and can answer.

Hopefully time will tell and bring him to the platform.

More speculation with anticipation

PS I hold the unofficial senior record in my weight class...............................................in my mind :)banghead

Oh yeah and in case you weren’t aware this is another joke.  Anyone who reads anything on this forum should know I am no where close to this at all.  Nor can I even lift because of my knee.

Why does Pat give half a care about what anyone says on a forum anyways or what people who do not even lift close to what he does say?  If he is lifting for the approval of others then he will burn out from the sport because his motivation is off and he will not get a lot of approval, fame, fortune or whatever.  It is basic sport psychology - intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.

So, before you are quick to jump on all these people try to read the posts in entirety and try to determine if there is truth in what people are saying.  I think much of what is said on here is awe by people in the lift.  But I also think there is great validity in what is said by people regarding it being out if competition.  He does not have to lift in comps if he does not want to and if people say “well it doesn’t count” the let them.  He lifted the weight, he knows what he can and has done.  If someone is not impressed by it because it’s not in comp let them be that is their opinion.  I personally (I would also say many of the people who posted on here as well) would like to see him in comps so its on paper and for me, I want to see him get us slots for the Olympics and get lifting some recognition here as a sport.

There is a reason we haven't seen him in big meets.   He more then likely cannot pass a drug test.   I use to lift with a guy that had huge lifts in a gym.   However, he would only to go small competitions and the Arnold.   Cause he knew that he would never be able to pass the drug test.   Unfortunate.

That video means nothing.   Olympic Weightlifting is decided only in a licenced competition.   Anything else matters none.

Isn't the reason why he doesn't compete because he will fail the drug test?

So for now he is training hard, taking the vitamin 's', and getting strong. When the important meet happens (olympic qualifters or whatever), he will cut the vitamin 's' and go for gold and records etc etc

I thought this was all pretty obvious, and done by the chinese etc etc

Am i the only one who see things as the are? or maybe too cynical?

That seems to be the only rational reason. The thing is he is already screwed as far as making the Olympic team. I think this next year is his last a junior, so he needs to participate in the Junior Nationals in Feb, or he won't have a junior career at all. Let alone a WR. I don't know if anyone knows what the deal is anymore.

I like to give the benefit of the doubt when it comes to banned substances, but in this case it is too bizarre to be anything else.

maybe he doesn't care for juniors?

I hear he may compete for brazil as he is dual nationality. Why can he not be on team usa?

He can be on Team USA as long as he is in the out of competition drug testing pool by Jan. 1, 2011.
