I wouldn't call losing on bodyweight getting smoked, but Fleming did an awesome job. I hope he keeps up the momentum.

Exactly.

Two more things of note from that session-
1)Zach Krych out-totaled all of the 94s as an 85.
2)Rob Adell had a 152 snatch locked out and (I believe) had a down signal before (heart-breakingly) dropping it behind.  Due most likely to the injury he sustained to his knee during the lift.  This is his last year as a JR and it would have been a new U.S. JR record.  If not for that unfortunate event, the final results may have been a bit different.  Ah well, coulda woulda shoulda.

Jared fleming smoked jon north and Pat Mendez won't be competing. Sorry to ruin your day lol

I just like watching the competition.

Maybe by looking at the results no, but if you were at the competition you would agree that he got smoked considering he lost after posting on facebook that he was the 94 kilo killa and that no other 94 should even bother showing up. Jared hit a 22kg pr total breaking the clean and jerk Jr. American record twice and I think the total also. Jon North almost bombed in the snatch with 153 and barely clean and jerked 187 and was beaten by 3kg with jared's 190kg clean and jerk (he looked good for more). Jon also made a bit of a fool of himself by throwing a few fits in the warm-up room and missing introductions saying he didn't need to be at intro's ( he was then told he did have to be at intro's if he wanted to lift and tried to turn it around like he didn't know and he was busy doing something else i guess...) There were a few other incidents I heard of but won't mention on here. So yeah I guess you could say he didn't get blown out of the water but from training with Jared for the last few months and knowing what he was capable of he could have clean and jerked whatever he needed to win and did just that. I wish Phil had another lift because he would have probably bumped up to the #2 spot, he definitely looked good for more weight after his 6 for 6 performance. Nothing to discredit Jon North's performance but this guy needs an attitude check for sure. I've never seen such a lack of maturity in my 5 years of competition( I know it's not that long to be on the scene). I think if he can turn his cockiness into confidence he'll be much better off in the long run.

I was keeping up with North's training journal the last few weeks and I can see how he ended up too wired. I would guess he learned a good lesson.

Hmm. I got all excited to see American Records, but I don't see any:

Male Sr  94 Jared FLEMING 1991 ECG 92.57 140 145 150 [150] 180 186 190 [190]= 340kg total

90kg      Snatch   Dave Phillips    151kg   (as junior)
90kg      Snatch   Lee James       167.5kg
90kg      CJ          Sam Maxwell    200kg   (as junior)
90kg      CJ          Curt White       205kg
90kg      Total     Curt White       365kg

91kg     Snatch   Tom Gough     167.5kg
91kg     CJ           Tom Gough     200kg
91kg     Total      Tom Gough      367.5kg

94kg      Snatch   Norik Vardanian 151kg (as junior)
94kg      CJ           Tom Gough     205kg

So, what am I missing? I admit its way too much trouble to keep track of the "records" amid all the USAW's distortions so maybe I have made some mistakes?

Jared will still be a JR next year and he is well aware that there are real records and has every intention of exceeding those.  He exceeded the "official" c&j jerk and total Jr American records that were held by Norik.

Also consider that Jared had a broken bone in his wrist and couldn't train the snatch as well as he'd like to.  He is usually a better snatcher, but no excuses it is healed now.

Jim, you know I am not criticizing Jared or his lifting.... Thanks for telling me he is a junior. Funny those results seem to indicate Sr, or is that part of his name? Sorry for that. Its fantastic lifting, goes without saying I assume. I still object to calling them American Records, until they are. ;)

I do know.
Sr is not part of his name.
Can't say I disagree with you about calling them what they are, but...
such is the state of American weightlifting.
All the more reason he wants the real records.
FYI- he wants more than just our "records."
