I would never recommend a complete layoff aside from serious injury. 5 days completely off would be my max. Light sessions will keep you in shape and allow you to recover.
do you feel nevous about bringing up these kinds of questions with your coach? if you appeared confused as he was telling you to take a two week break he should have offered an explanation
7th lifter, I understand the frustration and you may be thinking, if only I was following the right training program I would be lifting so much more. Right? A lifter who competed in the Pan Ams and was an alternate to the Canadian Olympic team in 1988 took care to tell me a few times that you (as in me) are not doing as badly as you think and that if I had the potential to be a record holder, I'd be snatching a lot more than bodyweight no matter what training plan I was following (provided that it was rigorous and the technique was good)Communicate more with your coach and see what he has to say. Not "whenever you get the time and the chance". You appear to have the time to write to a forum so it appears you have the time to ask you coach as well. Have a discussion ASAP.
