is it possible to be able to snatch the same weight you clean and jerk and if its not could anyone offer an explanation? also has anyone ever snatched more than they cleaned and jerk?

some people are VERY close, i believe that the first time rybokov snatched 185, he only clean and jerked 195 and missed 200 twice.

But obviously both lifts get the bar above your head, but clean and jerk lets you use 2 movements so it only makes sence that more weight can be lifted because each motion is smaller then the total motion of the snatch.

Lets just say if your clean and jerk is the same as your snatch, your doing something very wrong.

ahh really?...the way i saw it if i could clean and jerk 200 and snatch 200 wouldnt that be a better total if i was to clean and jerk 200 and only snatch 180-185?

You are right, it would be a better total but, with a 200 snatch, your clean and jerk better be at least 230-240.

And that 430-440 total will beat the 400 total ;).

damn... there goes my game plan! heres my problem: i was born with severe club feet ,had major bi lateral surgery just after i was born and now they face the right way but there really flat and misshapened. i dont know why but it really affects my clean and jerk.the reason i asked the question is becuase the snatch is moving up in weight faster than the clean and jerk and at this pace it will exceed my clean and jerk. this worries me, could this just be a beginer problem that i will grow out of?

Which part of the clean and jerk do you miss it on? I am assuming its the jerk.

If your clean is laking work on front squats and do 2 cleans  with one jerk

my jerk was weak so I cleaned once and jerked twice
Snatch 132.5     CJ  160     Front Squat  185     Deadlift   205         BW  77k
