also i dont believe that u.s lifters go to comps just for the sake of going. gotta give credit for those of us who try, afterall we could dedicate our time to a more popular sport but we dont for our own specific  reasons dont you think?

It usually costs somewhere around $1000 to go to a meet and there is rarely any payoff aside from a pat on the back. Further it puts you within the totalitarian regime of USADA who recognizes no rights of the athletes whatsoever that they don't feel like granting. And, you can't appeal anything they do. They must decide to appeal for you. Also, good luck reading all the relevant "rules". They are spread out across at least dozens of documents and multiple websites. Meanwhile, those who get caught in other countries simply have their fines paid for them while the Americans must remain ineligible until they cough up the $. Its a joke. Anyone who complies with it is IMO feeding injustice.

im not saying im not impressed, in fact i hope he brings the gold back home. im speaking about the low profile closet lifters who work hard to get legit numbers but treat competitions like its a fear of pulic speaking. no offense to pat

Who are these closet lifters? If youre referring to Pat, then it is offensive because youre basically saying 'hey great lift, but I think youre cheating, no offense.' Have you even read the youtube page? Broz says that Pat has wrist injury that doesnt allow him to jerk (hence the lack of jerks in his vids). And before someone dismisses that, have a clean land on your wrist so that you can extend it well, then see as it heals which lifts come first as you recover (hint, it sure as hell isnt the jerk).

We certainly do go there to win because we cant. At best we go to set an American record, but I dont think any of our lifters in the last Olympics or Worlds thought they had enough of a total or could pull off a high enough PR to break the top 3 in either the men's or women's side.

i hardly think youtube qualifies as low profile, if you read the post in its entirety you would see im excluding pat from that specific group. and in nowhere in that statement was the word "cheating" used. and even though we american lifters dont carry a huge presence on the world stage i have hope for the future. as for the injury what makes you think the snatch grip is any less damaging or painful as opposed to jerk, please explain

Not much point in setting an American record either. If it isn't inferior to the best lifts done by Americans in the past at the same bodyweight, it will be considered tainted and soon erased.

Then who are these shadow lifters youre talking about?

Thats if youre referring Pat (which you say you arent) so its irrelevant.

I can speak from experience on that. In a snatch grip, your wrist is not as extended as in a clean grip and the bar doesnt apply the brunt of its force directly through middle and outside portions of the wrist in a snatch grip where as a clean and jerk drives right through the middle. So if you have a clean land on your wrist and it lands on the middle on the wrist, youre more likely going to be out of commission for a while in the clean but moreso in the jerk since you can manipulate a clean grip more via elbow height, where you hold the bar, etc.

More pressure and criticism on this kid who has not ever tested positive than those who have been caught. Why? He has talent. Great. He can compete or never compete. He has no duty to prove anything to anyone as I see it. If he posts videos on youtube, watch or don't watch. Whats the big deal other than the kid is very impressive?
