YT beats paper EVERY DAY of the wk/mo/yr.

When the US stops inhibiting excellence, and allows our athletes

to be held to the same rules as other SERIOUS lifting nations,

THEN you'll get your dilettante wish.

Til then, politics will hold sway...
I agree w/ Mark Davis --

in a doomed effort to be liked
is as dishonest as it is futile."

So, is the goal 2012 Olympics or maybe a Worlds before that?

Sorry, I dont understand this mentality. And to me a lift does not count unless done at a sanctioned competition.

And to me a lift does not count unless done at a sanctioned competition.

Luckily this is irrelevant because no one claimed that it was an official record.

Jim Storch phrased it nicely:

Quote
Was it done in a meet? Nope.

Did he use straps? Yep.

BUT....

If I line up every American who could (right now) match that feat the line ends at 1. (PLEASE, someone prove me wrong!)

And, even if I change "right now" to "ever" the line would not get much (any?) longer (Hamman?) .

i always find it peculiar when someone who is obviously good enough to win competitions
at the same time appears to avoid them
i suspect the bulgarian method invites a high amount of douchbaggery - me

Where is the avoidance? Hes competed in 8 meets, including Jr Nats and the Arnold. Broz has said many times on various forums that hes going to compete this year.

Additionally, yes Pat can win US competitions, but he cant (yet) win World or Olympic competitions. Since he has his eyes on the latter, hes gotta wait until they come around and hes prepared to win. Otherwise its the same old story of a good US lifter not breaking the top 3 and just going for the sake of going.

im not saying im not impressed, in fact i hope he brings the gold back home. im speaking about the low profile closet lifters who work hard to get legit numbers but treat competitions like its a fear of pulic speaking. no offense to pat
