From the view of a kid

I am in the early stages of teaching my son how to perform the lifts. I was working on the snatch with him using a dowel with IWF ring markings made from tape. He knows what the lift is but as all beginners do wants to initiate the pull with his arms. So, I give him the coaching point "more legs". Of course, all weightlifters know this means to use their legs more in the pull but he being a complete noob didn't understand this. His response was "how can I when I only have 2!?!" I about busted a gut laughing. Gotta love the youngsters!

Paul,
Similar story in teaching my 12 year old daughter the "rack position" for cleans. As I'm raising her elbows under the bar, her eyes get as big as dinner plates and she exclaims, "Dad, how can raising my elbows cause me to feel like you're strangling me."
We dropped the drill. She still doesn't have a rack, but we'll get there.
All the best,
Arden
