World Master Games
« on: May 17, 2005, 09:55 PM »
How about a forum site for those of us who are going to the World Masters Games in Edmonton?
The information coming out of the Games web site is pretty slow to get here.
I plan to drive from Seattle to Edmonton, a 13 hour trip, leaving about July 19 and returning July 31. I thought I would have friends sharing the trip, but they all failed to qualify or didn't send in their entry. Are there any people who want to share travel expenses? I have room for 3 or 4 in my GMC Yukon, but gas costs about $4 a gallon in Canada and I only get about 16 miles a gallon.
I haven't seen any information on the Americans who are going, or the start list, or even the schedule of competition, so any information would be welcome.
Who will be on the US team and will there be any team assistance for those lifting, in the form of coaching assistance, physical therapy, etc.?
Are there any group activities planned?
How about pins to exchange with other athletes? That was a big thing at the Games in Australia.

You may want to check with Howard Cohen (hcigar@juno.com), or Walter Imahara (imaharas@aol.com), if you haven't already.
If I was doing any better, I would be twins!!!

The Sydney 2009 World Masters Games Organising Committee is pleased to announce the opening of entries for the Games weightlifting competition.

Weightlifting will double as the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Masters World Championships.  The opening of entries has been delayed to allow competitors time to meet the IWF Masters qualifying and quota requirements.

Over 400 competitors are expected to compete at the Games in weightlifting.

Competitors are required to register for the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games, as well as enter both the IWF Masters World Championships (through their National Federation).

There is no shortage of stories where a small business person has been hit with tens of thousands or more of legal costs from their own lawyers. Then there is the potential of having to pay for the other sides legal costs if the small business person loses
