Hmmm... my computer doesn't seem to want to open this, can anyone tell me where my lifts should be with a 195kg front squat, 245kg back squat at 105kg?

I wanna know how much work i need to do...

I want to know the same thing. I know I'm way far behind.  The would guestimate my best front squat between 200 and 210 and my back squat between 280 to 290.  And I weigh between 110 and 112 on any given day.

Thanks in advance for those that can access the program and are willing to help.  I have a longggggg road to hoe.  And I'm looking forward to the journey.

All the best,
 Arden

Try downloading the file and then uploading it to google docs to use it. Should work.

I wish oly lifting was as simple as bigger squat=bigger total

Very interesting doc though...if you want a 200kg snatch, you "need" a 800lb raw back squat....hmmm

Careful. That would only apply to male, national level, American lifters. For instance, someone with no idea how to do the lifts (i.e., a powerlifter) will not get the same snatch and CJ from their squats, especially if they don't do full squats. Its a pretty simple sport really, but not idiot proof by any means.

Do you know someone that can snatch 200 without being able to back squat 800lbs? I don't.

I think you need even more delimitations than this - that the lifter not only knows how to do a snatch and clean & jerk well, but still does them or some variant on a semi-regular basis. But I would love to believe that, knowing how to snatch & cj, I could just focus on squatting strength and just do the lifts once in a while (a reality working overseas) and have a positive effect on my total even somewhat proportional to my gains in squat strength.

Yes, that is true. One of the requirements to be a subject of the study was that you trained both squats and the lifts concurrently. If you didn't squat, it wouldn't affect the relationship. But, if you didn't do the lifts, your efficiency would likely deteriorate, even with squat gains. You might get better if you made squat gains, but you would do so at a lower rate of efficiency.

And I will add that the numbers are closer to my front squat numbers than my back squat.  And it shows me i need to master the front squat.  Hmmmmmm, I think I will front squat hence forth.

And I so agree with the power lifters that Chris mentions in reference to a big back squat and carryover to the Olympic lifts.  Just not so.  However a big front squat in a proper rack position, not cross your heart, would be more indicative of "carryover."  I think?

All the best,
