This chart has made me realize I need to have a higher Snatch...thanks Chris. Clean & Jerk is coming along but, my lifts should be 10kg higher.

Hmmm... my computer doesn't seem to want to open this, can anyone tell me where my lifts should be with a 195kg front squat, 245kg back squat at 105kg?

I wanna know how much work i need to do...

Judas,

In relation to your front squat your snatch should be about 134kg and your clean & jerk should be about 166kg.

In relation to you back squat your snatch should be about 141kg and your clean & jerk should be about 174kg.

Hope it helps some people. Its been sitting in my documents folder for years now. Last time I talked with Dr. Fry he mentioned the article was nearly done or already submitted for review as I somewhat recall. No idea when it will be published...

Looking at the spread sheet I see it's stating the equations of the lines of best fit for pairs of exercises. I see above in Ross's response to "Judas" that the front squat and back squat results give different values for the snatch and clean  jerk - what to do with that? Probably average the two, or take the results predicted from the front squat as I assume the front squat has a higher correlation.

All the correlations were above .9. The difference as I recall between the front squat and back squat relationships were pretty minimal. I interpret this to mean they are nearly equivalent in value, each with different things to offer. Thus I wouldn't target one or the other in the hopes it will pay off in gains in a particular exercise more than another. For instance, I do very little front squating these days since its more wear and tear on the body for me. But, my front squat is fine- goes up (or down) with my backs.

Thats funny because for me I notice that front squats are less wear and tear on me than back squats, but since I started back squating more... my knees are getting used to it and they feel good.
