i saw someone comment on his near bombout at nationals... just wanted to relate something i saw at juniors.
lance was at juniors doing some training in the training room... he cleaned 185 pretty easily, and missed the jerk behind him, had it locked but it just rolled off. he seemed a bit hacked off about missing it, so about 20-30 seconds later he walked back to the weight, POWERCLEANED it and jerked the hell out of it. really solid jerk.
i remember several years ago when he was struggling to hold 150 jerks over his head... it was obvious then that he could basically clean anything loaded on a bar, but the challenge would be to jerk it. now he is still struggling with jerks, but with a lot more weight on the bar.
overall id say thats solid improvement for someone who just plain has a hard time on the jerk. im inclined to believe he might still be cleaning the hell out of weights and struggling to hold jerks in a couple of years when the weight on the bar is 200+ kilos. we should all be so lucky. after watching him train two times, watching him warm up at several meets, and watching him do the big weights on the platform, i dont think its so much that his jerk is bad, its just that his clean is so incredibly strong that it will always make the jerks look harder in comparison.
ill make one tiny prediction. i think we will see lance powerjerking sometime in the future. hes built for it in every way possible.

Reminds me of Zlatan Vanev.

185 power clean??? Thats amazing. Depending on your body type, some people snatch what they power clean. Sounds like he's ready to make the jump to the international stage. I don't suppose you have a video to post of this? Best of luck to him.
Pierre Suter:
I had heard he cleaned 195 (note: AR C&J is 187.5), but 185 PC is even more amazing! As he ages and matures, I'm sure his overhead strength will improve. I think he's on track to be our greatest C&Jer ever. His snatch is coming along nicely, too -- nearly double bodyweight. Great lifter. Good luck Lance, keep up the good work!

Nice of you all to say kind things about Lance, but Glenn's account of Lance's workout at Juniors needs a little clarification. It was hard to tell exactly what he was doing because the plates he was using were the black rubbery bumpers that all look the same, but the power C&J Glenn referred to was actually 165, not 185.
I've watched Lance train for over two years now, and have never seen him power clean 185, though he has gotten close to that. I have seen him clean 195, jerk 190 off the racks, and push jerk 190, but am still waiting for the 185 power clean.
Bottom line is that Lance is a very nice kid, who has matured over the course of the last year, and is training diligently. He takes time out of his day to work with, and encourage the other lifters in the gym, especially the little guys....and does it because he enjoys it, not because he feels obligated to.
