« on: Dec 30, 2009, 11:32 PM »
Lets set/hear some goals for 2010 as well as reflect on how our 2009 lifting year went.

I will go first:

I started lifting in Dec 08 and my two goals were to:

1-Make a 191 total at my first meet (I made a 200KG total at my first meet Jan 31/09)

2-Qualify for Nationals at the provincial championships Dec 19/09. (I did meet this goal with a 248KG total)

2010 Goals

2009

This was my first year oly lifting. I set out a goal of 90/120 by years end.

Came close with 87.5/110

All in all I'm pleased. I took 5 months off to train for a couple x-country races over the summer...I basically just did bench and abs the entire time. Looking back it was pretty bad idea...running absolutely destroyed my squat.

2010 Year End Goals

110/140 @ 94 or 115/145 @ 105 by March 27 so I can qualify for nationals. This is reaching a bit though. I think the snatch goal is very attainable since my current snatch PB is a full power snatch. If I can get some confidence under the bar, that number should go up.

I also want to compete in a provincial powerlifting comp as a raw lifter and put up a 1250ish total

Snatch: 115kg
Clean & Jerk: 145kg
BS: 210kg
FS: 170kg
DL: 240kg
Bench: 315lbs

I started 2009 wanting to squat clean 150 - I got that.  Can now do 140 for a triple.  I also wanted to snatch 120; not quite there yet as I'm having some technical issues with my pulls - too much loop and hyperextension.  But getting close.  I Can overhead squat that 120 for sets.

At the ECG gold cup last November I went 95/120.  so I'm very pleased where I'm headed.

My main goal is to improve my performance in Timbersports, but the lifting has always been a passion.  Given the explosive nature of my sport, OL fits perfectly.  Just wish I would started this when I was younger.

I have the following things I'd like to accomplish during 2010 from a gym persepctive:
Squat clean : 170 to 180 kilos.
Snatch: 120 to 130 kilos.
Front squat: 210 to 220 kilos
Jerk: 160 to 170 kilos

I currently at 150 to 160 on the squat clean, 110 to 115 on the snatch (power mind you, having problems mastering the squat snatch), about 180 to 190 on the front squat (but can back squat between 250 and 270 - so it's a matter of time), and can behind neck jerk the 150 to 160 right now very easy - just got to do it in front. So all should be attainable.

From an overall health perspective, keep my weight under 112 kilos. Doing a darn fine job of that even through the holidays.  Part of me wants to think about dropping down to 105 and doing the Master's next year at York during November.  That's a very sick part of me too.  I was 130 kilos about three years ago, so I'm very very pleased with the weightloss I've accomplished.  The even cooler thing is I actually feel stronger now than I did when I was a cow.  Well, a fatter cow.

All the best,
 Arden

I restarted weightlifting after over a year hiatus. During that time I did strongman competitions and a lot of kettlebell training to prep for an RKC. Now I am focused on lifting again.

2009
My goals were to get back to where I was when I was competing but, at a lighter weight class. I have a 115kg snatch and hit 147kg CJ at 94kg. I do want those numbers to come up. I haven't hit those numbers since I was 105kg.

2010.
I am competing in February so I am hoping for a 120kg Snatch and a 155kg CJ. As for the year. I want to snatch 136kg. That is the 300lb mark and a 300lb snatch is just awesome. As for CJ; somewhere in the 170kg range would be nice. I want to qualify for the American Open. Nationals might be a bit out of reach for the time given but, I would like to try.
Here one must leave behind all hesitation; here every cowardice must meet its death...

I'm going to make June 2010 goals. The future beyond that is too uncertain because again I don't know where I will live (or even if I am still in Canada)

Waist less than 30 inches (35.5 inches now), might weigh about 60 kg to do this
Snatch: 75 kg
Clean & Jerk 100 kg

I'm close to those lifts already but I don't know how I am going to be affected by the amount of fat loss I hope to achieve. This will be my last public moan about the topic of my body composition.

Not very lofty lifting goals but if I accomplish all the above I will feel good

My goals for 2010 is to Snatch 81 and CJ 101 at the Masters Nationals in April.  My goal is to do this in the 62kg weight class, then I will qualify for Nationals.  I think that would be pretty cool for a 43 year old who just started weightlifting in November 2008.  I snatched 80 and cleaned 100 (missed the jerk) at a competition in September, so I think I am right on track.  I need to lose a few more pounds and then I'll be there.  My general goals are the same for every competition: go 6 for 6, have fun, and no injuries.
