Justin : I just want to survive 2010. That is my only goal.
I started back lifting as a Masters athlete in 2006. In May 2009 I sprained my left ankle. In the fall of 2009 I cut off part of my middle finger doing woodworking. Two weeks ago I sprained my left leg while lifting. Each time I started over and built my lifts up. Now I have to do it all over again at 59 years old.
So Justin I just want to survive 2010.

This year i'm going to stop gawking in awe ov those lifters who can absolutely destroy a good snatch... you know the types, the ones that make their max weights look like a blur and never get a bit out ov line... and become one ov them.
There are lifters who snatch well, and do everything right, and then there are the ones that impress the **** out ov you with speed, technique and power... the ones that make you say (to quote some weightlifting expert or article, i dont remember where) "looks like he's done this before..."
Honestly, i dont care if my numbers only go up 5kg in a year. If i can destroy my maxes in both lifts and impress people who are hard to impress i'll be happy. Hell, technique and speed are the only things holding back my lifts right now anyways, so if i can do this i should gain impressively by default. I'm not making any numerical goals, they never work. Focuses always change, **** happens. This'll be my first year i dont do that. Though that elusive 200kg front squat and perhaps a fun 225x8 back squat would be a nice 2010 Christmas present. This years Christmas present was a really solid 120 snatch.
And IF... (yes if) i do continue my bench quest, then the number will be 440. 455 if i get 440 too easily. 200kg or 4 1/2 plates raw. But at this point i'm close to giving up bench...

Only been doing this consistently for about a year so tons of room for improvement. I severely lack the raw strength which you'll notice with my numbers.
2009 Numbers...
Snatch: 80kg
Clean: 95kg
Jerk: 105kg
Back Squat: 115kg
2010 Goals...
Snatch: 90kg
Clean: 110kg
Jerk: 115kg
Back Squat: 130kg

Thanks. And yes, I've been focusing primarily on squats for awhile now lol. It's just been increasing slowly and tediously.

I always start low goals and the readjust once I reach them
Snatch 100kg
Clean and Jerk 130kg
Total 230kg obviously
Squat 185kg
Get my bodyweight up to 200lbs
All of these I feel are do able
God willing I would like to qualify for nationals but this would defnintely be an act of God more likely a 2011 goal.
