Matt, the living quarters at the OTC are better than college dorms, so I probably shouldn't have used that term.  Still, they are way smaller than a standard apartment.  Jeff and Shane each had a small bedroom and and bathroom.  In between was a small room, big enough for a couch, chair and TV.  There was another small area that could be used for eating, but the rooms have no fridge or stove.  They eat at the cafeteria, as much and as often as you want.

Oh, so they are pretty much almost like cheap university runned apartments.

Do they pay for anything aside from stuff like shampoo and stuff away from the OTC?

Mike,

I don't mean to contradict you, and I know you took these things as understood, but, from the vantage point of a very poor weightlifter that has lived at the OTC....a few things they pay for and provide:

1) Rent
2) Food
3) Power
4) Water
5) Sport medicine
6) A pool
7) A hot tub
8) Computer and internet access
9) An ice machine
10) A well equiped weight room
11) An excellent sport/weightlifting library

Probably more that is slipping my mind at the moment....

Sounds like heaven to me.....

Chris, I don't think you are contradicting me at all.  None of the above are personal items (unless you want specific food not provided at the OTC) and none are away from the OTC.  But while you were at it, you could have added another nice benefit, college.  OTC athletes have scholarship money available to them through the BJ Stupak program.

Mike,

Thanks for adding that information. I was not aware of all the particulars regarding the educational opportunities at the OTC now.

Also, I believe they have free local telephone service in the dorms, correct? And, do they still have the free (used to be for one 5 minute call a day) long distance phone booth?

Thanks,

Chris

PS
A few other things they don't provide, unfortunately, besides personal items (toiletries and such):

1) A car (payment)
2) Car insurance
3) Cell phone (phone bill)
4) Student loan payments

But, I do think there are some part-time jobs available on campus to help meet these additional needs, correct?
