From 2.5 Kg increments to 1Kgs for contgest lifting?
As a newcomer to the sport transferring over from the world of Powerlifting, I knew before I switched this was the case, but I was just wondering when it happened.
Thanks

not positive if this is why they changed the rule. but i like the 1 kg rule. it makes competitions more competitve. and you not only have to lift what you can. but be smart about what weights you choose next in order to beat your oponent. It is also more pleasing for viewers because it is more competitive ....which is of course more intertaining.

Rule#1- Lift!!!
Rule#2- Lifting=life. So when lifting is good, life is good. Everything else is unnecessary details.
Rule #3- No excuses. lift like a champion

I agree it makes it more competitive, closes the gap on attempts and distance between opponents, allowing an opponent to make up the difference with 1.5Kg less on the bar to win [Ie. Athlete 1 finishes with a 300 total, athlete two has 295 [130/165] after attempt#2 on c/j, can attempt 171 instead of 172.5 for the win.] I like it too. Just wanna know when they made the change.

They made the change in March 2005, but it didn't take effect until the Junior World Championships of that year.
