Here is an interesting question.  There are many assistant lifts for olympic lifts.  At what point does one decide these lifts are no longer needed or needed to a very minute degree?

MY OPINION: [When your technique in the full lift is perfect, I assume. The full lifts should be main focus of your training. Assistance lifts make it easier to focus on a small aspect of the lift and reinforce proper technique. ]

I do snatch balance then high hang snatch to work to full snatch. Right now my technique is still getting better so I need to do the assistance lifts to keep me in the right groove. The snatch balance helps me 'find my heels' in the catch because I tend to leave the bar forward in the catch. The high hang snatches help me keep the bar close and that also helps me find my heels in the catch. Once I get to the full snatch, I know how my body is supposed to move and feel. Over time the mistakes would be fixed so I'd probably drop those lifts, but we all know as one issue gets fixed another one arises.

Yeah, if you want to send me some vids through youtube I'd be glad to draw squiggly lines on them in slow motion. That goes for anyone else here on W.E.

Thanks for the offer Chris. I have to agree with you in that assistance exercises are a must for the developing lifter. Only when a skill set is at an eilte level can they be taken out of the equation--like the Bulgarian approach.
