Hi everyone, I wanted to get people's opinions and experiences with hip complex injuries.
What methods are best for prevention/ treatment? Besides the usual modalities has anyone had experience with
compression/supportive equipment and apparel
?
Thanks and In Health,

, ALEXANDER I HAVE HAD PIER FORMANCE, AND IT BAND INJURIES. CURRENTLY STILL TRYING TO GET OVER IT BAND STRAIN FROM STATE MEET IN JAN. I USE A GLOVE SLEVE THAT POWER LIFTERS USE, AND COMPRESSION SHORTS OVER THE GLOVE SLEVE, I GET EACH ONE A SIZE SMALLER, ALSO DO NOT USE GLOVE SLEVE IN COMPETITON, CAN NOT GET A CLEAR ANSWER ON ITS LEGALITY, BUT BOTH WILL PROTECT YOU SQUATING, AND PULLING IN YOUR WORKOUTS.

Dear Gary, thank you for your advise. That sounds like a good took to use. What sleeves do you use.
Also, have you heard or used any good quality compression shorts? I tried the McDavid and Underarmour, but with little success. From what I am understanding you cannot have any non garment under or over the singlet. I guess depends on the competition.
Thanks again,
Alex

I know what those are. Don't they inhibit your bottom position on the front and back squat? I use to powerlift and had some before.
I know they add a little extra punch out of the bottom:)
My chiropractor specializes in sports injuries and prevention. On Friday, when I was over for adjustment I saw a product line that he started to carry. It is actually a line of three levels of compression shorts. Apparently they have a patent on them and he said he has been having great success with prevention and also for training through injuries of the hip.
Of of his athletes is actually Ryan Howard from the Phillies and on occasion during spring training, Derek Jeeters (not sure of his name spelling).
The name is CoreShorts by CoreTection. He told me to buy the Pro and Rehab models. A little high on price, but when I tried them on I can see why. He said, Rehab to use during squats and very heavy pulls and the Pro for snatching and CJs. I used it for snatching and CJ yesterday and it made ALL the difference. My fatigue level was a lot lower as well.
Anyway, I will keep you posted on progress.

As you may know, I have had chronic IT band issues for over a decade and its really held back my squating. Recently I discovered that foam rolling really helped a lot. But I have been focusing hard on my squats the last several weeks and foam rolling alone doesn't quite get the job done. I have been wearing normal spandex for a long time in training for comfort, but they get expensive because they wear out fairly quickly and they do nothing for my IT bands. So when I came across an old friend who told me about a new type of compression shorts for these type of issues, I decided to give it a try. In just a week of wearing the Corshorts PRO, my IT band tightness has completely faded away. And, I am 100% positive they will outlast normal spandex. For the price, it is simply a far better deal IMO.
I was so impressed that I decided to start offering the Coreshorts products to the Weightlifting Exchange. So, I became a distributor so I could offer a better price. If you have IT band, quad, groin, hip flexor, and even low back issues, I strongly recommend giving them a try. They are now available in our EStore:

Happy lifting!

I am just curious... Can you use the Coreshorts in a competition?

In the end, I think it would be a subjective call by the TC (ref). But, I think it is very unlikely that anyone is going to ask you to drop your pants to see what kind of shorts/underwear you have on under your singlete. So, I would say it is likely you would have no problems using it in competition.
