Having good results so far.

Will try front squats in the rehab model today as they seem to be what bothers the groin/hip area most.

Just out of curiosity how do the corshorts work as opposed to a normal compression short?  Are they mainly a really good compression short?

***I modified my question to better ask what I wanted to know and I also added the piece below

Rule 4.1.2  (taken from the USAW technical rules)
b)   Close fitting leotard / cycling trunks may be worn under or over the costume. They must not cover the knees.

This to me makes it seem that wearing the corshort in competition to be legal even if they knew about it.

I read that rule and thought the same thing......no problem being legal. They are a type compression shorts (to fit that rule) BUT they have the added benefit of seemingly "aliging" everything or "tightening" it up. They are not supportive at ll in my opinion in helping you in rebound out of the hole or anything. The Pro model is night and day from say a spandex short like Nike or Underarmor. No comparison. Worth the money. I have hurt for a month straight and do not anymore and have only been using them starting this past Monday.

There is more information at the coreshorts website: http://www.coretection.com/education.php

It is cheaper to buy them here though.  :)wink

Ok so I just went to the link Chris posted and I read the research article they had from the NSCA journal so it is a legit study.  But I have questions and this could probably be best answered by those who are already wearing the shorts.

The study found that there was a decrease in active range of motion of hip flexion the difference between 98.25 without the short and 88.50 with the short.

Now the researchers hypothesized that this was a result of improper short fit because they had like 1 size and the subjects on a questionnaire claimed they did not feel the shorts fit properly and were uncomfortable.  Along those lines the researchers claimed that they could not maintain constant compression at the inguinal crease during hip flexion.

So my first question for those who are wearing the short is has the coreshorts hindered your hip flexion in any way getting under the bar or at the bottom position during the lifts?  You all probably have a more proper fitting short so it may make the difference.

Second, some of the researchers claimed that there is a possible decrease in electromyographic activity after long term brace use found in two other studies.  (I wonder the effectiveness of the comparison because the 2 studies looked at a knee brace during running and soft lumbar support belt on the abdominal oblique muscle during squat).  Now I do not necessarily think this would be the case due to the high activation of the hip and quad musculature during our sport but it is something to consider.  I also wonder the carry over since these studies looked at other things than at the hip.  I also call into question the soft lumbar support belt because I would not think there would be a high activation of the abdominal oblique musculature during the squat anyways since there really should not be a lot of twisting or bending to call them into play.  But also can be understandable since belts help assist the abdominal muscles in bracing anyways.  But that would also be easily rectified with a regular abdominal lift routine, I would think.  Let me know your thoughts.

Also if anyone has any other studies I can look at that would be greatly appreciated.

I'll just say that mine fit well and feel comfortable and unrestrictive. But, I don't know much about the science on this matter and haven't researched it. Most important to me is that these are far more durable than normal spandex and for barely more expense. I believe they will far outlast the normal shorts I wear for training.

Andy, the only true way to find out if that works for you is to try the shorts out.  The company give 30 day full refund (minus s+H) .

I have the Pro and the Rehab.  They both work great.  If you are over 5'11 definitely get the 2" longer inseem.

I heavy front and back squat with the rehab and do the lifts with the Pro.
If the shorts are properly fitted there is no interference in any movement.
I love mine.
Not to mention the price for the product compared to the McDavid or UnderArmour is pretty much the same.

I just decide today that I am going to order them tomorrow.  I was dragging my feet a bit because I recently applied for a new credit card and was hoping it would come to take full advantage of the 0% apr for a year and put the shorts on that.  But I got tired of waiting for it.

Question though is I am about 5'10", (5'10.5ish" with shoes) do you think I need the 2 inch longer inseem?  I was going to pass on the longer inseem because I didn't think I needed it.
