After once having a lot of weightlifting equipment, I can tell you I am happy to keep the minimum- 1 rack, 1 eleiko bar, 1 non-needle bar, a set of eleiko weights, and a few odd small items for abs and such. That is enough to drag around from place to place when you move as it is IMO. I don't want more equipment anymore. The last thing I would ever want to own again is a set of jerk blocks. :)peaceout

I take it you mean the huge wooden jerk blocks, as opposed to the metal framed ones the Chinese use? They could be relatively portable for sure! I really want myself a set....

Yes, I meant the big wood ones, but simple squat racks work fine for jerks out of the rack, so I wouldn't want anything else.

Yeh, I have some issues with re-racking after jerking, causes havok on my elbows. Much prefer to dump the weight.

Bringing the weight down efficiently takes a lot of practice, but also has some value in learning IMO. Still, when I get to 85%+ in rack jerks, I just dump it, strip it, and power clean it back to the rack for the next rep.

That's what I should be doing, but I'm to lazy :), I can do it fine, but still flares up some joint pain, so I try to avoid it closer to max.

This is a document from Eleiko that tells you how to lubricate your bar. This is for older bars such as the one you are referring to and is pretty straightforward.

My Eleiko Bar is a 1989 needle bearing bar. I belive it was originally a Comp bar and was owned by a former Us olympian.  :)wink

The snap ring on the end broke and when ptting wheights on it would knock the sleeve in too far and it would have to be beat out. I sent it To Bud from Dynamic Eleiko. He fixed it for free I simply paid for shipping. Good stuff, and works great.  It worked fine before I was worried it would eventually cause a problem.

For the uninformed like myself- What is a needle bar? What is the difference between a needle bar and a non needle bar? How does it effect your training?
