Keith, Good luck! I wish I could go but El Peso, TX is just to far. Let us know how you did and post some video if you get a chance!

Well, here is my report on El Paso. I got back late last night, but really good lifting and lots of Masters records were made and attempted. Of note, Gary Deal made a pretty easy 96 kg snatch after opening with 83, then not attempting 91 after running out of time on the platform, jumping to 96 and making it look like a warmup. Clean and Jerked 120 to finish off a good day of lifting.
As for me, not so good. Warm-ups were feeling good, but when I got to the platform, nerves and anxiety took over, and I had a hard time concentrating on myself.
Snatch 85 good (ripped it off the platform), 90 miss (didn't finish), 92 miss (same, didn't finish)
C & J 105 good (pretty easy) 112 good (again, pretty easy) 117 miss clean (left it out front, was pretty tired)
Once my wife downloads the vids on our photobucket acct, I'll post links to them. I don't know why, but some reason I was really anxious on all my snatches, and just could not seem to get things right. I'll be working on second pull and overhead squats for the next several weeks. I'm also going to focus on slowing down my first pull a bit to control the bar better.

That 92 has been a killer. Your day will come.
Good luck building the stamina...

Judging by the strength of your pulls and your speed under the bar, fixing you position in the catch will make you good for ~100kg snatch. It was great to be able to watch you lift. Keep up the hard work.

Keith,
Congrats on the Bronze Medal at the Nationals. Looks like you were 1 lift from the Silver! Great job. I look forward to seeing the video.

Here are the lifts themselves!!
Keep in mind I was really not that controlled like normal (again, don't know really why this was)
85 kg snatch 1st attempt
spideranne - MastersNationalsSnatch85K.flv
92 kg snatch 3rd attempt
spideranne - MastersNationalsSnatch92K.flv
Clean & Jerk 112 kg 2nd attempt
spideranne - MastersNationalsCJ112K.flv
This one got into my throat a little, hence the foward drive

Wednesday, 4-8-09
Snatch Complex (Power Snatch, Full Snatch, OHS)
40 x 3
45 x 3
50 x 3
52.5 x 3
55 x 3
Bear Complex (Power Clean, Front squat into push press, back squat, behind neck power jerk - 7 times)
50 x 1 pushups x 7
50 x 1 pushups x 7
Was supposed to do this 3 times, but 2x was enough to put a stitch in my side, so quit there. Felt like I could have handled more weight, but this killed me!!
Trying to figure out if I want to follow the OLY WOD on
www.maxfitusa.com
or the one on
www.mikesgym.com
. Any suggestions and why?
