On that front, I find it a bit odd that Podobedova was forced out of the Russian team because her doping ban meant she would never be allowed to lift in the Olympics, and yet Akkaev, whose doping ban expired in 2007, was in Beijing.

There are a few more.

Vladimir Sedov, Kazakh 94kg gold, was banned 2006-2008.
Said Ali Hossein, the Iranian super, was banned 2006-2008.
Ninel Miculescu, Romanian 4th in 69kg, was banned 2006-2008
Bart Bonk, Polish 94kg, banned 2002-2004

Probably a few more in the B and C sessions.

+
Sajjad Behrouzi , 62kg from Iran (2006-2008), he also was a member of that team , (9 of 11 members tested positive due to Ivanov's job)

Sad news about Sedov. He is a very good lifter.
