The best evidence I've seen that someone can SN 220:

that's mikhail koklyaev.

He won a gold in the olympics for russia, then was kicked off the russian squad. I think it was drug related, i am not sure.

He is kicking up quite a storm on the powerlifting/strongman scene

Maybe I need a bigger monitor, but I come up with 148kg.  I'm pretty sure there is a single 20kg (blue) on each side, but there might be two. That still wouldn't be 200kg.

Either way, 148 or 188, pffft, anybody can do that!  NOT.   I might be able to lower 148 to the hang and then straighten back up, 188 and I would probably break in two. :)hmrhd

Wow.

I think my question may have been answered by Patrick's statement, but why is he not on the Russian Olympic Team?  I've seen videos of him C&Jing in excess of 250kgs.  I also remember seing a video of him snatching 210.  I've also seen video of him push pressing 200.   That's unbelievably impressive.

I've never met Misha, but a few good friends (training partners actually) have competed against him on the IFSA series.  They speak highly of him.  He has a very positive attitude and jovial disposition.

All the best,
 Arden

I read it might've been that Koklyeav said the Rigert wasn't his coach (he isn't) and Rigert didn't like that (hey Rigert started ripping out his hair or something after missing a weight in his competitive days right, it could happen, haha)

koklyeav's amazing, he's done a 240kg clean&jerk, 400kg deadlift, and 260kgx3 front squat all in the same session (plus he back squats 360kg and fronts 300kg, benches 220kg close-grip!); most well rounded strength athlete out there right now I think.

Misha never won a gold medal at the Olympics. That is 200kg. He has no reason to lie about the weight on the bar as he does not even compete in weightlifting. 25kg+10kg+20kg+10kg(small russian plates)+2.5kg+Collars(2.5kg)+5kg each side.

He was kicked off the Russian team because Rigert wanted to be listed as his #1 coach yet he had never coached Misha in his life so out of principle Misha refused because he couldn't betray his real coach. Rigert never let him on the national team. That is how I understood it.

He has been on the Russian National Team at least twice.  The first time was at the 2002 Europeans where he bombed out with 190 in the snatch.  The next time was 2004 Europeans where he went 2/6 doing 190 and 230.  In 2006 at the Arnold on Sunday he stopped by the weightlifting at about 11 or 12 and clean and jerked 222.5 and 240 for us and he had just placed 3rd in the Arnold Strongman Contest the night before.  He is a very very impressive athlete.  He also stayed around after the 240 for what seemed to be a half-hour taking pictures with the kids (it was during a school age session) and signing autographs - very friendly.

I have heard that too but if you look at the bios provided by the countries for the '08 Olympics they all have their specific coaches listed.
