Love this video of all the split snatch and cleans!  I especially love the side view.  It is really great to see how the sport has changed in the last 45 years.  I do have a question that maybe you or any other historian can answer - when did contact with the bar and thigh become a legal move?  My guess would be '72 when the press was eliminated.

"Brushing" the thighs was initially approved by the FHI at their congress in Tokyo in 1964.

                   If anyone would would know decades upon decades of weightlifting history and also the history of the technical rules it is Ron. I thought that I should back you up Ron -- for some of these people don't go that far back concerning the history of it.
