Compare the price of 5 lbs of pork to the tablespoon of creatine powder w/ an equivalent amount of that nutrient, and yes, artificial supplements can be much more economical and convenient.

Chris makes a great point about all that we don't know, so making real food the mainstay is very wise.

I remember a great quote in "Speed Trap" wherein Charlie Francis talks about the definition of "fair", noting that ever since we stopped running barefoot on dirt, there have been relative advantages unevenly distributed.

I would say that there have been uneven advantages ever since Eden (and scarcity existed even there, since they couldn't BOTH eat the fruit AND still stay).

Any which way, we all have to draw a line somewhere, and in the end it's training, technique, and testing it all in competition that are the nobility of our endeavor.
