Matt,
 as of now there are no 2009 empire state games for weightlifting because the state cut all of the open division sports. But there might be a meet where all the regional teams from NY state have a comp anyway.

MAtt- I hope you get that 200. You'd really be surprised what the encouragement of fresh eyes has on your performance.

What school do you go to?

keep up the great work!

@Jake
Keith Nautel is going to be hosting Empire Weight Lifting Championships July 18th/19th because of the lack of open divisions. It's still going to be coaches from each region bringing 7 girls and 8 guys with 2 add-ons.

@Joel
I go to SUNY Cortland, but am lifting at Cortland Highschool until I move back into the dorms Sunday. I absolutely love it when I have people watching me lift. It sort of simulates competition for me and gets a nice adrenaline boost. Especially when I have the cocky highschool wrestlers watching me. They're the type that say I suck when I cleaned 195, but then continued to Jerk it overhead and they were astounded.

Wednesday  1/14/09

Snatch
(89x3, 109x2) x 3

2 hour recovery

Overhead Squat
135 2x2

Snatch Balance - heavy single
135x1

Notes: Snatch Balance wasn't necessarily "heavy" as it's more awkward for me. I lose it out in front of me almost every time and have to fight it backwards before standing up.

Friday  1/16/09

Clean and Jerk - heavy single
185x1 (pressout)

Bench Press - 1RM
175 x 1
185 x F

Notes: The peer pressure of asking me how much I bench finally got to me. First time barbell benching since early August. 25# off my max, lost tons of strength in this area. Upper chest was very sore for a good 2 hours after.

Snatch
124  3x2

2 hour rest

Clean and Jerk
