Topic: Best-looking lifters

OK, now I've reviewed the 63s w/ this topic in mind...

... and yet again there are very many very appealing representatives for our sport.

Again I counted at least a half dozen who would be great in a promotional ad for OL.  The asian countries were well represented (except sadly for Taipei, were the national program seems to take perverse pleasure in making sure the ladies are as un-made-up as possible), as well as N and S America and Europe and Africa.

The heroic grit of GBR's Michaela Breeze was a performance for the ages, and some of the other lifts (especially the gold-medal winning C&J) were extra awesome.

I'd list the 5 most photogenic non-US lifters as PRK, VIE (if she'd only smile), KOR, ALG, and too close among several to call for 5th.

Actually not SO surprising there were more than a couple, since the 63's were the ONLY women's class w/ more than an A session.

haha, i'd have to admit....all of you old men weightlifters talkin about these young women weightlifters is pretty funny from an 18 year old weightlifter.

OK --

Liu (pronounced like LEO, but w/ more emphasis on the O than the E) was AMAZING, and darling for her maximal density.

In the 77s, Cao (pronounced TSAO) was MAJESTIC, truly statuesque (and heroically so) from head to toe.

Spanish-speaking countries were impressively represented by a variety of great-looking women in this class (as much so due to attitude as any other factor).

The CHI and RUS lifters were great examples of how much difference effervescence of personality makes to attractiveness.

And as in the lighter classes, there's no doubt that STRENGTH, COURAGE, SKILL, JOY, etc. make women BEAUTIFUL!!

Personally I don't see why you would want to use pretty girls for marketing in order to promote Olympic Weightlifting.
Olympic Weightlifting is about striving for ideals, hard work, honesty, fair play, determination, integrity, ideals, and living the Olympic Spirit.
I do not want Olympic Weightlifting to print calenders of semi clad athletes to raise money like an Australian sport has done.
In the past we have always marvelled at the posters of the world's best athletes and this has always inspired us.  We also have Rob Macklem who is a God send for Olympic Weightlifting.   If you want to market our sport get the best;   you need men like Rob Macklem.

Yeah, trying to show athletes in other than their glory is foolish --

even the supposedly greatest photographers do a disappointing job setting up something artificial (the Leibowitz quadrennial silliness is the prime example -- she should stick to getting minors to strip for her "art").

This thread is just talking about the most appealing of the elite, and taking the approach of focusing on non-U.S. examples from the Beijing Olympics.
