Weightling to lift big TV audiences

General Secretary of Oceania weightlifting, Paul Coffa, has revealed considerable international television interest in January's 2009 IWF World Cup weightlifting tournamant in Noumea, New Caledonia.

Mr Coffa says prize money and the appearance of nearly all the Olympic gold medal winners from Beijing will mean a big television audience for host broadcaster RFO.

"RFO is doing and setting up a big programme for that and they intend to go live for the four days of competition and they expect to go into every French speaking country around the world and they also expect China to take it and we are working on Al Jazerra also," he said.

"So we are going to try and cover as many countries as possible, worldwide not only the French speaking countries but many countries of the world where weightlifting is one of the top sports including China."
There is no shortage of stories where a small business person has been hit with tens of thousands or more of legal costs from their own lawyers. Then there is the potential of having to pay for the other sides legal costs if the small business person loses

That is awesome. Are they trying to bring back the world cup as the premier tournament among elite weightlifters like it once was? In Naim's biography they treated the world cup very seriously.

Excellent news.  I'm new to this sport and I love it.  It's such a great event, I hope it continues to get increased exposure over time.  I think time will be our friend on that issue.

All the best,
 Arden
