No problem.  Just perhaps another unique perspective will help create a breakthrough for ya.

Plus, I'm not exactly sure how posting video isn't in line with "letting the lifting speak for itself".  In fact, other than seeing it on tape or in person, how are you supposed to REALLY know that the lifting is for real?

Awesome lifting Taylor! Chris, I wouldn't mind your videos at all, to put it mildly. Bragging? What were they talking about!

Taylor,

That OHS was awesome.  You have some major strength and your lifts still have some room to get bigger without you having to gain much strength.  As a reference, I can barely OHS my best snatch, my best FS is only about 15kgs better than my best clean and jerk.  If you get more efficient in your form, you could be a contender for the Olympics in 2012!

Keep posting video, it is inspiring.

Taylor,
enjoying the vids, keep em' coming.  Just curious if you ever thought of dropping to 77kg....would that make the american open easier to get to (last i checked, the qualifying number is a decent drop in relation to the weight drop)?
Can't tell from the vid, but how tall are you? Just curious.
Again, keep working hard and i agree with you, these videos are letting the lifting speak for you.

On the topic of videos of lifts, at least with myself, there is always some aspect of bragging involved when I post a video, and quite frankly, if a person's sole reason for posting a video of their lifts was to brag, that would not bother me at all. Pride in the results of many years of hard work and dedication is not a bad thing. Taylor's smile after getting that pr snatch is one of the best parts of the video.

For someone like myself who is trying to learn these lifts without a coach, videos of lifts are invaluable, especially when the person doing the lift is there to talk about it. So, Taylor, Chris, or anyone at any level who is so inclined, please keep the videos coming, even if you are bragging at least a bit. You've earned the right.

Agreed. To lift a big weight is an almost uncontrollable feeling of insurmountable power- almost an instant God complex. It is a pump that might carry on for hours and could certainly come across as bragging. I love seeing Taylor and everyone's videos. But for whatever reason, my fault or not, I am just not interested in dealing with any negativity about it right now. Still, I will post a video every once and a while probably...

Thanks

Wow, thanks everyone for the comments!

Thanks for the references, Paul.  You're definitely right, it's my form that's hindering any further progress at the moment.  And I would be lying if I said that it wasn't my dream to make it to the Olympics!  More realistically though, if I have a chance, it'll likely be in 2016.  I should be off on a 2 year mission for my church here in the next few months, and who knows if there is another deployment overseas waiting for me when I return.

Matt, I could drop to the 77's, but it would be tough.  I also noticed the incredible 20kg gap between the 77 and 85 American open qualifiers (I think the gap between the 85s and 94s was only 5 kgs).  When I get back from my mission (on which I wouldn't be surprised if I lose a good 15-20 lbs), I imagine I'll probably settle in the 94 kg class. I'm about 70 in (5'10") tall.

For me, posting video is a way to get needed critique, plus in today's technological age, seeing really is believing.  At the very least, it acts as a journal for myself to reference in the future.

Those are also my main reasons for posting video. Good luck with everything in the future. Sounds like a busy few years.
