A New PR!!
My lower back has been sore lately, but it was well enough yesterday to think of doing heavy C&Js.
And I did them!
My workout wasn't the traditional direct progression upward in weight, but more of an up 20, down 10 format.
I should have made it something like up 20, down 15, as the weights got heavier.
Anyways, here is the workout:
50 warmup
70 C&J
60 C&J
80 C&J
70 C&J
90 C&J
80 C&J
100 C&J
90 C&J
110 C&J
100 C&J
120 C&J (big jump, sort of surprised myself by how well this lift went)
125 C&J (decided to keep going up this set)
115 C&J
130 C&J (this tied an all-time PR set a few weeks ago, but the lift was far smoother than when I first hoisted it)
122.5 C&J (not as smooth and sharp as I was hoping before a record attempt, but not bad)
132.5 C&J (sharp! I was surprised by how solid the catch was in the FS position; the clean is definitely my weakness) NEW PR*****
I felt like I could have done another 2.5 - 5 kilos more!
122.5 C&J + C(miss)  (starting to tire)
112.5 C&J + C(miss)  (felt something twinge in my lower back, should've known better that to push it :)ugh

I'm taking to day off to try and heal up, but things are looking good for the competition in 2-1/2 weeks!

I've been working on the natural oscillation technique, well demonstrated by Aramnau, and it held up well under yesterday's heavy test.  The jerk happens so fast, you almost don't have to think about it.

The oscillation comes naturally with the surge at the top of my squat up (people usually do this to reset their grip in prep. for the jerk), and I keep it going my not trying to still the bar.  Then, on the second bounce, everything flows naturally into the jerk.
Anyone else tried/had success with this technique?

Cool lighting and camera work...

... but how do we know it wasn't really 227??

I made a 240 total at 82.2 kilos; not what I was looking for, but I'll have one more chance in a week and a half to qualify for Americans.

OK -- "technique" is OK, but definitely not "critique my technique".
