Weightlifting in Minneapolis
« on: Sep 21, 2008, 09:49 AM »
Hi,

I'm going to Minneapolis 1st of October and I'm going to stay there for six months. I'm looking for a place to train. Any suggestions?

On the USAW website there are no registered clubs, but I assume there are gyms. Naturally I'd prefer an actual weightlifting gym. I remember that somebody here advertised a weightling gym in Rochester, but I don't know how easy it is to get there since I will not have a car.

I've been training for a year now and would really like to continue during my stay in the US. Thanks.

Lauri,
Yes there are club listings in Minnesota on the USAW web pages. Click resources, then club info, then current registered clubs. Get a hold of the contacts listed there.
Twin City Barbell may be your best bet as the facility is one block from Minneapolis-St Paul public transportation. The others are in the far suburbs or another farther city like Rochester.

Ok, thanks.

I was only looking for Minneapolis in that document, didn't think about other really close by places. I assume it is rather easy to get to e.g. Roseville from near the university.
