I am pleased to be a member of this forum. It took me a long time to realize it but the registration and forum system here really is the only acceptable alternative for a civil discussion of weightlifting.

How did you get started/involved in weightlifting?: I saw Suleymanoglu on TV during the Olympics, and later saw a newspaper article about a local weightlifting club. I wanted to be like the Pocket Hercules Â
Years involved in weightlifting: Actively aware about weightlifting, about 14 years. Involved in the provincial sport governing body as an athlete or in some other role, 8 years.
Athletic achievements: None to boast about. My best lifts were done when I needed them the least. I still hope to improve upon my PRs when I get out of South Korea.
Role in weightlifting: athlete, webmaster, coach in a few rare and informal occasions
Coaching/educational credentials: Bachelor of Human Kinetics, Bachelor of Education (secondary school math/phys ed), Level 1&2 NCCP theory (Canada)
Favorite weightlifter: Dalas Santavy
Interests other than weightlifting: I enjoy math, and I am into computer gaming. My favourite past-time is playing World of Warcraft.

How did you get started/involved in weightlifting?: Started general strength training and gradually became interested in Olympic lifting so joined my local club.

Athletic achievements:Played for West Virginia versus Ohio in the High School All-Star Football Game 1974 (Fullback), Football Scholarship to Salem College, Officiated High School and Professional Indoor Football, 23rd All-Time in the Super Total ( O/L-P/L ), 2 X WV Best Lifter Award, 6 Time WV State P/L Champion, Southern Ohio Champion, 5th YMCA Nationals P/L, WV Collegiate Champion 1975
Role in weightlifting: Competes in both Olympic and Powerlifting Meets.
Coaching/educational credentials: Coach of Steelton Barbell Club, Strength and Conditioning Coach for local High School, coached the WV Basketball Player of the Year, Coached Teenage American Record Holder in the Squat lift, Health Care Management Degree, CNA, studying at WV Northern for my Nursing Degree (RN), 30 YEAR Career as a Steelworker, owned and operated 3 gyms.
